Empire State of Mind这首歌的家喻户晓程度，堪比史上任何一首说唱歌曲。但至今像样的中文解析却很少，连百度百科上的歌词也是错的。这个情况很正常，因为Jay-Z老师的这首歌本身信息量巨大，再加上为了押韵有些词故意唱不清楚，所以连美国本土歌迷也一直弄不清他究竟唱了啥。下面把正确的歌词和分析写下来，希望大家通过分析能够理解这首歌的精髓。
第一段说唱 Yeah, I'm out that Brooklyn
Now I'm down in Tribeca
Right next to DeNiro Jay-Z本人年轻的时候生活在纽约布鲁克林区（Brooklyn）的贫民窟。通过多年努力，他终于走出了贫民区，住进了 Tribeca，也就是“triangle below Canal Street”曼哈顿下城的富人区。和Robert DeNiro（罗伯特德尼罗。《教父II》中年轻教父的扮演者，美国史上最伟大的演员之一）做了邻居。
But I’ll be hood forever "hood"的意思是贫民区。所以歌词的意思是: 虽然我出了贫民区，但是我从未忘记自己从哪里来，我的心没有离开。

弗兰克·辛纳屈(Frank Sinatra)是二十世纪可以与猫王和披头士媲美的音乐人。他曾写过一首歌叫《New York，New York》，里面著名的一句台词就是：If I can make it there, I can make it anywhere。Jay-Z在这里自比弗兰克·辛纳屈，并且用了他的歌词。

"hola"是西班牙语的HELLO。哈雷区有一部分叫Washington Heights，是拉丁美裔聚集的地方。多美尼加人（Dominicanos）在这里指代所有说西班牙语的人。Broadway就是百老汇街，百老汇街从曼哈顿中部一直延伸至哈雷区，最后止于Washington Heights。所以这句话的意思连着上一句：我当年在哈雷区靠卖毒品度日，和那里同样贫穷的拉丁裔人们说着“Hola”打着招呼，就在百老汇街的那里。

Bedford-Stuyvesant简称Bed-Stuy，是布鲁克林区的一个贫民窟，也是说唱巨星The Notorious B.I.G的家乡。Biggie指的就是The Notorious B.I.G。这里Jay-Z的意思是:当年也在The Notorious B.I.G的地盘混过，而现在我已经混到了上Billboard。

Shit, I made the Yankee hat more famous than a Yankee can X在这里指的是纽约Bronx区，OG是JAY-Z的好朋友Juan “OG” Perez。这里是说成名后和好友Juan “OG” Perez看纽约扬基队的比赛。Yankee hat就是扬基队标志的棒球帽，Yankee Can指的是扬基球员（or yankee candle美国做蜡烛的公司)。这里JAY-Z吹了个牛逼，说自己把扬基帽带出名了。
You should know I bleed Blue, but I ain't a Crip, though 流着蓝色的血（bleed blue）英语里意味着身份高贵。同时，crip是LA的黑帮，他们帮派的颜色是蓝色，jayz这里说bleed blue是说我流的蓝血是给yankee流的，不是给crip流的。

这句话是被听错最多的。所有人都以为是Jesus为勒布朗詹姆斯买单，我给韦德买。但这句话讲不通啊！正确的来历是：说唱歌手Young Jeezy唱了一首歌叫24-23，这首歌很屌，内容是讲Jeezy大哥曾经花了24,000美金买过一公斤可卡因，如今他只需要花23,000美金就能买一公斤。为了把买毒品的事儿讲的文艺一点儿，Jeezy大哥就说"I used to pay Kobe [24], but now I pay LeBron [23]." JAY-Z在这儿借题发挥，说你pay勒布朗，我pay韦德。
3 dice Cee-lo, 3 card Monte 这里3 dice Cee-lo, 3 card Monte是指贫民窟的两种赌钱方式。可这句经常被听成3 card marley，因为Cee-Lo是一个歌手的名字，而Marley是鲍勃马利的名字。

这句话一直被人诟病，说是亵渎神灵。 这里Hail Mary是来源于橄榄球名词Hail Mary pass，意思是长传但几乎不可能成功。我认为JAY-Z是说人们来到纽约一心为了成功，却不知道那些危险的浮华将污染你的处子之身。 耶稣不能救你，生命始于教堂终结。这句话有明显的亵渎神灵的意思，但我倒是觉得这里有点像讽刺一些基督徒，他们只在教堂里忏悔，但出了教堂的门，立刻该怎么着怎么着，完全把教堂里的虔诚抛在脑后。这样的人，基督也救不了你。

这首说唱歌曲虽然被人诟病为亵渎神灵和侮辱了女性，Jay-Z一直以来也被当做光明教（Illuminati也就是反上帝的撒旦教）的代表人物。但就歌词的水准来看，Jay-Z不仅通过罗列名词呈现出了纽约的繁华和堕落，也融合了自己的早期经历和对大都市的一些思考，从艺术角度上来讲，远比其他骂来骂去的rapper要深沉了许多。加上旋律的气势蓬勃，Empire State of Mind这首歌精确的描述出了世界之都纽约的精神。可谓说唱歌曲的顶级作品。 我相信我的解析应该是至今所有中文解析里最全面的，以后遇见美国朋友大家也可以装逼一下，因为真正理解歌词含义的美国人也没有几个。
