SSN与入职时间问题

有一个summer intern，本来是要周一入职开始工作的，但是因为没有SSN所以公司决定将入职时间推迟到我拿到SSN的时候。今天刚去申请的SSN，这样大概要两周才能收到 我知道其他公司有没拿到SSN但是就去上班的先例，这个问题好像各个公司的处理方式不同，所以想问问我可以做些什么能争取早点入职呢？

不要工资，不进入payroll,做unpaid就可以了。
We do not require you to have a Social
Security number before you start work.

wait for your Social Security number,
your employer can use a letter from us
stating that you applied for a number.
