Since the wet season falls between the months of October to April, my preference is either early/mid August or mid/late September.
The Lost Coast Trail
A 24mile three day backpacking trip along California's most undeveloped stretch ofshoreline.
Have aplan, but plan to be flexible.
Day 1: Drop the car at Shelter CoveTrailhead Parking Lot. Take the shuttle service to Mattole Trailhead. Arriveearly in the evening and camp there. ·
Mattole Trailhead There is a bathroom here anda water spigot to fill your bottle.
You must fill out a free backcountrypermit here and hang the tag on your backpack.
Day 2: ·
Start Hugging The Beach After the first stretchhiking between dunes, you come out onto the beach next to the cliffs for somebeautiful hiking. ·
Punta Gorda Lighthouse 3.75 mile The lighthouse was built in1910 after numerous fatal shipwrecks off the coast, and was in operationuntil 1961.

Day 3: ·
Second Day of Hiking This stretch is all beautiful with so many different surfacesto hike on. Take your time and enjoy the hike.

Third Day of Hiking Take some time and soak your sore feet in the PacificOcean.
