First Credit Card - Citi ThankYou for International Student

Hi, find this place a lot of useful information. Just share my experience of openning the first credit card.

I am a master student at US. I recieved my SSN half year ago, and after that I tried to apply for Discovery Card by referral (non-student version) but failed. I was intimidated of applying online so after two months of the last failure I went to the citi to ask the banker to help me apply. There is a card called ThankYou card for International Student (more specific than "College Student") where one can hardly find it online. In fact, you can only apply that card at the branch. I just keep up with the banker and just now he told me that I was approved. The credit limit is 1,000 dollars.

Need some suggestions on how to make best use of this credit card to accumulate my credit socres. Hope my post is helpful for students who need their first credit card!

it is fine to spend more than that. Just make sure you pay back and keep your outstanding balance between 0% and 20%
