I got an emergency advance parole in 1 hour at Mount Laurel NJ Field Office in September 2018.
I had an Info Pass appointment because my father was seriously ill. On the day of appointment, my father passed away (early morning) and hence I reached Field Office at 8AM (before my appointment time). They let me in.
Then Field Officer inspected my documents (e.g. I-131 Form, Death Certificate, 2 Photographs, Support Letter from me). She was very kind to understand the gravity of situation. I told her that my flight leaves from JFK in 5 hours and it takes 2.5 hrs to reach JFK. She took the documents and went inside to talk to Field Office Director. Came back in 10 mins and said, "we are approving your Parole". Asked me to wait for 20 mins. Then she came in 15 mins with a 1 page paper document which was Stamped, Laminated Parole document. Fee was not taken because my I-140 and I-485 was filed concurrently and fee was already paid. She asked me to review and sign a paper which had some questions and disclosures. I signed. Then, I took the Parole document and thanked the officer and rushed to JFK.
My advice to the people is - keep your documents complete, accurate and make sure that this is a TRUE EMERGENCY which could not have been planned earlier. i.e. it is emergency AND it is EMERGENT (i.e. "arising unexpectedly"). DHS uses EMERGNT rather than Emergency.
