4 of my peers got into xiaoheiwu when they came back (Chicago, Canada, and LA). One of them stayed there for >2hrs and missed the connection flight (2016). Two of them only spent <15 mins (2016,2017).

In their case, they have EAD card, effective passport and visa, I20, employment letter and offer letter. I should say there still chances to get stuck, but it's totally fine to come back to the US as long as you have all documentations ready.
