Can I use my reward points to buy an airline ticket for my friend?

I am thinking to apply for Mileage Plus Explorer, then use the reward miles to buy an airline ticket for my friend's wife. She is coming to the U.S. from China, it's a one way trip not a round way trip.

On ******, some people are selling one way trip CN to US for $540. But I also found this "The person whose credit card was used needs to be present when the other person checks in for their first flight" on travel.stackexchange

So I am confused, can i use my credit card reward points to buy an airline ticket for my friend's wife or not? Please help.

My friend just got his citizenship, he wants to bring his wife to the U.S. Now we know that he can use the airline ticket from my reward points (Mileage Plus Explorer Card). Thanks everyone for replying.
