English Travel Writer-Intros andOne-liners to be Localized for Chinese travelers

·       XiaoYaoDao.cn’s mission is to share the awesomeness of theworld with Chinese travelers.

·       We review 100's of sites from top US cities and curate them,into the best, actionable top 10 lists and itineraries, to make it easier forChinese to find and enjoy authentic experiences.

·       XYD is the Chinese facing brand from Attract China that enables top US travel destinations to connect with and promote to Chinesetravelers. We operate in Boston, Beijing, New York, Washington DC, Las Vegas,Los Angeles and San Francisco. (15 cities by end of 2014)

WHAT XYD WANTS FROM YOU

We need an English Editor/Writer,with local US travel experience, that can craft great summary introductions of a travel ‘Top 10 list’ and oneliners of top US travel destinations for Chinese travelers. These describe top feature experiences, capturing the essenceof why these are must-see destinations, then it will be localized into Chinese. We have curated the top hotels, restaurants, attractionsand shopping into top 10 lists and itineraries, but need descriptive contentfor our localizers. Some examples include:

·       Classic Boston Experiences - Fenway Park’s Green Monster: theclassic baseball challenge of Boston’s iconic, cursed Red Sox

·       SF Iconic Attractions - Once in a lifetime photos athistorically beautiful Golden Gate Bridge

·       NYC nightlife – Nightlife and Manhattan skylines at the TrumpSoho

·       LA’s Best Seafood - Royal service and fresh Pacific seafoodat the wildly creative Providence in LA

Editor/writer job requirements:

·       Passionate US travel experience, professionally and/orpersonally

·       Complete work under pressure and deadlines

·       Travel experience in these cities: New York, Boston, LA, SF,Las Vegas, Washington DC, Chicago, Honolulu, and Seattle

·       Prefer American resident or regular US traveler

·       can write and research to distill what is ‘must-see’, and canwork with our Chinese localizers

About the work:

·       We will assign you Top 10 lists or Itineraries of places/destinations that each require a summary intro and 10 one-liners.

·       With the one-liner, you will provide a backgrounder of eachlocation, with two or three online references so the Chinese editor can fullyunderstand, express and localize the one-liner.

·       Your one-liner will be LOCALIZED into Chinese, NOT publishedin English. So it needs descriptive adjectives of one or two key features.

·       The CHINESE traveler is the target audience – and they havelittle US cultural experience, so consider if you are introducing a location toa foreign friend, how would you recommend this place as a ‘must-see’.

  

About our Chinese travelers:  these are Chinese travelers to the top US cities–representing the top 10% of the Chinese market, in income and work experience.They are exploring international travel, interested in the best experiences inthe US to customize their own trips, avoiding boring tour groups. We focus onSingles, Couples, Families, and Business travel.

How we work and how we pay

You can work remotely, submit work by email, but must be availablefor conference calls by phone or online (eg skype). We’ll start with a ONE-DAYtest assignment working with our team, leading to longer term projects. Eachsubmission requires final approval for acceptance.  We pay best with amonthly invoice and payment, but can also pay via elance.com and odesk.com
