[color=rgb(45, 45, 45) !important]PlayThrive is a non-profit organization that promotes whole child education and operates a Mandarin bilingual after school program, located on the campus of John Gill Elementary school in Redwood City, CA. Our program teaches the Mandarin language via cultural activities, thematic projects and explorative play. We’re looking for teachers that believe children thrive when they can explore, have fun, connect with one another, and develop understanding of self and the world. We aim to cultivate a passion for lifelong learning in children.

[color=rgb(45, 45, 45) !important]Kindergarten Mandarin Teacher position starting 3/2/2020 in Redwood City.

• Co-teaching Mandarin through hands-on and enrichment activities to Kindergarten students in an after school program. 3 teachers with 26 children.
  

• Monday through Friday following school calendar between 10 am to 6 pm. 30-35 hours per week with flexibility arranging your weekly schedule with your teaching team.

• Must have 2 years or more experience teaching children 3 to 8 years old face to face, over 15 hours per week
  

• Ability to speak/read/write Mandarin Chinese 能聽說讀寫中文,繁體簡體均可,繁体简体均可
  

• Ability to design and implement lessons with student-centered principles
  

• Ability to plan and facilitate hands-on and engaging lessons
  

• Ability to effectively manage a group of 10-15 students
  

• Ability to be a strong team player
  

• Able to communicate in person and via email in simple English
  

• Legal authorization to work in the U.S
  

• Pass LiveScan background check and meet health requirements to work with children

• Foster a joyful, positive and non-judgemental learning environment
  

• Maintain classroom and outdoor environment that is safe with clear boundaries and expectations
  

• Maintain classroom and outdoor environment that is organized, functional, challenging, and developmentally appropriate to promote learning through exploration
  

• Connect with students. Know the strengths and areas of improvement for each child and make growth plans to support their intellectual, physical, social and emotional growth.
  

• Design or improve on existing Mandarin-teaching curriculum to be developmentally appropriate, student-centered, and inquiry-based.
  

• Execute the Mandarin lesson plans based on student-centered principles
  

• Maintain records of course work and make academic growth plans
  

• Converse with student frequently using the targeted Mandarin keywords and sentence structures.
  

• Adhere to using the appropriate teacher language that is provided by PlayThrive
  

• Proactively look for ways to improve class structure, environment, and curriculum.
  

• Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum, teaching methods and address issues during class
  

• Participate in professional development events and activities
  

• Communicate program information/updates as necessary to parents and to teaching team
  

• Contribute to weekly newsletter.

Assistant Mandarin Teacher (助理中文老师, 助理中文老師)Part-timeSalary: $18.00 to $22.00 /hourAssistant Mandarin Teacher position starting in March in Redwood City.

• Assist teaching elementary-age students in Redwood City using the Mandarin Language
  

• Monday through Friday following the school calendar. Hours are 12:30 pm to 6 pm
  

• We offer competitive pay based on experience $18-$22/hr
  

• Reimbursement for professional development
  

• Paid teacher trainings in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Mandarin teaching
  

• Opportunity to advance to the full-time Mandarin Teacher position
  

Required Qualifications:

• Must have 1 years or more experience working with children 3 to 8 years old face to face, over 15 hours per week
  

• Ability to speak/read/write Mandarin Chinese 能聽說讀寫中文，繁體簡體均可，繁体简体均可
  

• Ability to care for a group of 10 children
  

• Ability to be a team player
  

• Able to communicate in person and via email in simple English
  

• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
  

• Pass LiveScan background check and meet health requirements to work with children
  

Responsibilities:

• Support a joyful, positive and non-judgemental learning environment
  

• Maintain classroom and outdoor environment that is safe with clear boundaries and expectations
  

• Connect with students. Know the strengths and areas of improvement for each child and assist in making growth plans
  

• Assist in teaching Chinese culture and elementary school level of world knowledge in a Mandarin-immersion environment. Converse with student frequently using the targeted Mandarin keywords and sentence structures.
  

• Proactively look for ways to strengthen relationships with students, organize classroom environment, and improve lesson delivery during classes
  

• Communicate program information/updates to parents and the teaching team
  

• Participate in professional development events and activities
