1. For status issue, we can stop your F1 status only after you submit the copy of your Green card. The rule says a person can have only one status while in the US. Since you are still in F1 active status we will end it only once the Green card is approved and you have the card with you.
2. For Academic purposes- You can continue to be enrolled full time this semester and then once you have your Green card may register part time to continue your education. We need a copy of your Green Card to switch your record to local student which will allow you to register courses less than full time.
3.For EAD card- you may accept your job office since you have received your EAD card in advance for your Green card application. Congratulations in getting a new job.
Topic 2: Failure to Maintain Status
You should terminate a student’s record upon learning that a student is no longer maintaining his or her F-1 or M-1 status. SEVIS termination reasons were covered in detail in Module 3. This topic outlines your overall responsibilities when a student fails to maintain status.
After completing this topic, you will be able to understand your responsibilities when a student fails to maintain status. Students may decide to forfeit their status (e.g., make an authorized withdrawal to return home), or students may fail to maintain status (such as an unauthorized drop below a full-time course load). In either case, you must terminate the student’s SEVIS record upon becoming aware that the student is potentially out of status. Student status can also be jeopardized due to institutional actions, such as expulsion. If a student commits a potential status violation and wants to remain in the United States as a nonimmigrant student, you can assist the student by recommending reinstatement. You do not, however, have the legal authority to withhold reporting of the potential violation, and the student’s SEVIS record must be terminated. |
